The Last Jedi discussion (SPOILERS)

Let's get this here more active, shall we? Needless to say that there will be SPOILERS ahead.

I haven't watched the movie yet, but I've read all the plot/spoilers, which really doesn't bother me. I don't really know what to feel with the whole Luke thing... the audience also seems pretty divided on this. around 50 something percent on Rotten tomatoes audience score. What do you guys think of the movie and all of the plot points including Luke and Snoke's death and Leia's superman moves? (lol)

I saw it the other day and can honestly say I wasn't that impressed with it to be honest.
It kind of got a bit dull and forced at times.
They need to take a note or two out of how they done rogue one to make it more fun to watch.

What do you think about what they did to Luke? I understand the reason he became a grumpy old man, but the fact we didn't get a real lightsaber battle before he died kinda pissed me off.

Yeah I can understand why they done it, maybe next episode they are going to have him haunt Kylo?

I think I was more pissed that snoke and his guards died so easily especially after they made out the guards were so "skilled".

And we got no decent backstory for Snoke before he died either, which is kinda sad, but then again, we have no dang idea of who Palpatine was before he died on Episode VI. I wonder if they will do like a prequel of the current movies, as in, in between episode VI and VII. LOL.

I saw it two times.
The first time, I was left with a confused feeling as to what to think of the movie. Some parts were good, but some parts were just strange, even for a fantasy like star wars.
The second time I saw it I left with a better feeling. I see that they wanted to change things up comparing to the original movies.
Kylo, one of the more interesting characters, actually succeeded in killing his master and taking over, something vader failed to do.
Luke knows that the jedi has too many fundamental flaws to be considered good practice, a grey jedi is the ideal.
I loved how he sucked dat green milk, too.

Since I was confused as to what to think of the movie upon the first screening, I dont think the director did the best job that he could have, which is a bit scary because this guy is confirmed to make his own star wars trilogy up next.
On second thought, they did a lot of new, not rehashing old plots for the sake of playing it safe, which is good, I guess..
What bothers me is that snoke, who apparently has been around before the empire and is uber strong with the force, was defeated without any good backstory.
The same happened with palpatine, but snoke is supposedly much stronger than him and vader, which is why I thought he would become the main villain in ep 9.

Comparing all the new star wars movies, I still have to say rogue one was the best thing Ive seen in years.
I wish that director got his own trilogy instead.

Vader's scene kicking major ass at the end of Rogue One already makes it one of the best movies ;D

I just wish we had at least ONE REAL lightsaber duel with Luke being amazing though :/

I saw it a few days ago and really liked it. It was nowhere near perfect but I really respected the fact that they didn't just play it safe and make it Episode V but with the new characters. My least favorite bit was the casino. It just felt like filler with a shoehorned-in moral message. Luke was definitely my favorite part, because his character (mostly) made sense. The whole "Ben paranoia" bit was the worst of his character IMO but it didn't really affect my enjoyment of the character or the movie. It was no Rogue One but I feel like it was a definite step in the right direction for the sequel trilogy.

Yep, I think everyone wanted to see Luke busting out old greenie and at the same time using sick force powers, showing he mastered it all after learning the truth about the force and how to understand it.

I now feel enough time since the film's release(and that i have seen it now 3 times) I find it poorly paced/characterized. I am not exaggerating that the prequels 1-3 have been better than 7-8 thus far. My reasons are the movies have scale and Darth Sidius.(with a side dose of Chrisithtopher Lee)
